Dan Howitz and Lisa Bright undefeated

23 December 2012 By Zports

Defending champions, Dan Howitz and Lisa Bright, continued their winning form in the About IT Triathlon Summer Series at Round 2 on Sunday morning at Pollok Beach.

Despite the hot conditions, the 750m swim was held in cold 14 degree waters and was followed by a flat 20km out and back cycle along Marine Drive before participants completed a 5km run in near perfect weather in Port Elizabeth. Howitz once again took the lead during the cycle leg but was chased hard by Michael Bester during the run with Bester finishing just 8 secs off Howitz’s winning time of 58min 54seconds with Ryan Peter in third place.

Bright won the ladies race in 1hr 06min with Jade Hooke in second and Robynne Klee in third place. Junior Keegan Scott finished 4th overall to take the junior title from Rinaldo Morgia and Matthew Scott.

Team Automax comprising Rolf Kickhofel, Murray Finlay and Gavin Dickson won the teams category in a time of 1hr 4min with the O’Kennedy family in 2nd place and the About IT youngers in 3rd place.

The final round of the About IT Triathlon Summer Series takes place on Wednesday 26th at Port St Francis, starting at 8.30am. Online registration is available on www.trisummerseries.co.za and late entries are accepted on the day. Over 40 social teams are anticipated for round 3.
