Dam Levels as at 11 July 2011 – Time to Throw the Ratepayers a Bone

12 July 2011 By Alan Straton

With the average capacity now standing at 87.8% only a mad masochistic dictator would continue to deny the beleaguered ratepayers some form of concession around the water restrictions.

Our ‘normal rainfall months’ are still to come this year so with that in mind it would be prudent to give some form of concession methinks.

Major Storage Dams supplying the Metro levels as at 11 July 2011 (Capacity – Volume of water):

  • Kouga: 100% – 125 910 Ml
  • Churchill: 97,1% – 34 229
  • Impofu: 68,4% – 72 351
  • Loerie: 99,6% – 3 015
  • Groendal: 100% – 11 640
  • Average all: 87,8 %  of total combined capacity (247 145 Ml).

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.

Are they purposefully not updating the dam level info on the Metro website?

I have not received the latest levels either – shall diligently fire off another question and see if anyone replies.
