Cut to the Bone

Port Elizabeth resident and veteran teacher, Dorien du Toit is holding an exhibition, ‘Cut to the Bone’, featuring sculptures on an African theme: in wood, iron, bone and stone at the EPSAC Gallery from the 26th January to the 3rd February 2011.

Dorien was born in Johannesburg in 1949 and schooled mainly in the Transvaal.

Dorien is a renowned teacher of English and creativity for 27 years to the Xhosa, Coloured and Chinese communities in the Eastern Cape. This songwriter, musician, singer, comedian, artist, poet and writer is father to three girls.

Dorien was the founding member of several long running music projects and festivals and currently runs the monthly “Fire Klub” cross-cultural concerts at Toni’s Place, Newton Park. His focus is on inspiring and helping others recover their creative self.

The exhibition opening is on Wednesday 26th January, 5.30 for 6pm at the EPSAC Gallery, 36 Bird St, Central, Port Elizabeth
