Chippa United optimistic ahead of AmaTuks game

19 August 2014 By Alan Straton

Chippa United will return to Absa Premiership action with a clash against University of Pretoria at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday following an eight-day break. Kick off is at 7:30 pm.

And Chilli Boys coach Kostadin Papic is optimistic that they will pick up points against AmaTuks though they are yet to register their foreign-born players.

“We are confident of a win against AmaTuks though we might still be without our foreign players as we are struggling to get their work permits. We are going to play our normal game in an effort to win this game,” said Papic.

Already, the Chilli Boys and their opponents have played four times against each other – both in the National First Division and the Absa Premiership.

The Chilli Boys lost once and drawn once while AmaTuks have won twice against Papic’s boys.

However, Wednesday’s match is going to be a different ball game altogether as the Chilli Boys want to get back to winning ways after a controversial 1-0 loss to SuperSport United at Atteridgeville’s Lucas Moripe Stadium on Tuesday last week.

Currently, the Chilli Boys have collected three points from two games while AmaTuks only have a single point from a possible six.

“I hope our players, who have slight injuries, are going to be ready for this match. Anyway, it won’t be a problem even if they don’t recover on time as we are not afraid of anyone,” said Papic.

The two sides played to a 2-2 draw at the Athlone Stadium the last time they met in an Absa Premiership showdown in May last year.
