Changes to the MyPE Directory

By

Time is Money

Whilst on the internet and looking for a business to satisfy your need you require pretty simple information: Name of the business, a short description, contact details – all within easy reach.

One other requirement for the searcher is the confidence that they are choosing to contact a business that is popular and trustworthy.

With that in mind we have changed the ranking factors for businesses listed in the MyPE Business Directory in the various categories.

From now on those business listings that are:

  • Viewed the most times,
  • Commented on the most times and
  • Rated the most times

will appear at or near the top of their respective categories. We are confident that this will help you make the right decision as to which Port Elizabeth business to spend your hard earned cash with.

You will notice too that we are now ONLY accepting and publishing comments about your business and NOT publishing general queries. Please make sure that your business details are correct in the Directory – especially contact persons and e-mail addresses. If in doubt, contact Alan (please provide the URL on MyPE for your business).

Naturally we would prefer you to spend your cash with those businesses that actively support MyPE by paying for premium links. You can recognise a premium link by the fact that it has a lot more info, no adverts, is recommended by MyPE, has directions on the detail page as well as being highlighted and at the top of any search or category listings.

For those businesses looking to ‘game’ the rankings:

  • Link to your business detail page on MyPE from YOUR web site
  • Actively encourage clients to use the comment form for YOUR business on MyPE and
  • Insert the rating code for YOUR business on your web site – the rating code HTML is available on your businesses MyPE detail page.

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
