Nelson Mandela Bay’s highly successful Business Night Relay, a Zports initiative supported by the Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA), concludes tomorrow evening with the last of three well supported fun corporate events. The Business Night Relay is open to teams of 5 runners or 3 walkers, drawing hundreds of participants to the North End Lake precinct with each team member completing a 4km lap around the Lake and Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Over 120 teams have already entered for Wednesday evenings event which starts at 6pm and concludes with prize giving at 8.30am.
“The event has been a huge success and has proven that local companies are hungry for more team building and fun events in the city.” said organiser Mike Zoetmulder of Zports. “It’s been fantastic to showcase the awesome North End Lake area and see companies supporting the event by turning the evening into a fun company team builder with a braai and fellowship afterwards.”
The Business Night Relay, which is backed by the Mandela Bay Development Agency, Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism and Kingfisher FM, is set to become an annual feature on the Nelson Mandela Bay sporting calendar as a winter Series.
The route of the Business Night Relay Challenge is a 4km lap around the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium and lake in Sydenham, starting and finishing at the EP Powerboat Club in Fettes Road. All team members complete one lap in relay-style format with the running teams completing 5 laps and the walking teams 3 laps. A 1hr 45min team cut-off time ensures that all team members get to complete their lap with all ourstanding team members being set off at 7.45pm.
The event is as exciting for spectators as it is for the participants with great public viewing along the whole route and a party like atmosphere at the EP Powerboat Club with the News Cafe resident jazz band, Mojazz, proving the entertainment during the run. Bar and braai facilities are also available for the teams.
Late entries will be accepted at the Powerboat Club from 4pm on Wednesday. Parking at the venue is via Milner Avenue only with the Fettes Road entrance to the Powerboat club closed to traffic from 3pm. Contact Zports on 041 484 7860.
