Nelson Mandela Bay’s Premier League hope, Bay Stars, is showing its intention to compete in the First Division next season by topping the Vodacom League log against seasoned competition.
Even though the team found it difficult to score on a wet and heavy Gelvandale pitch against a determined FC Tornado defence, the goalless draw was enough to propel Bay Stars to the top of the Vodacom League log.
Managing Director Tony Lovegrove said the newcomers to the league – launched only on 26 September this year – are giving a good account of themselves.
“To top the log is a great achievement since most of these teams have three or more years experience in the Vodacom League.
“We are also the only unbeaten team after six hard fought matches,” he added.
Bay Stars’ next match is against Champions FC at the New Rest Stadium on Saturday, 26 November at 15:00.
