On the morning of 22 August 2016 at 7:40 am, Gareth Burley, host of The Big Breakfast on Kingfisher FM, was privileged to talk to Nelson Mandela Bay’s new mayor – Athol Trollip.
Kingfisher undertook to support the prayer initiatives that took place all across the Bay during the elections as thousands went on their knees to pray for our leadership and governing bodies. In addition the staff at Kingfisher have spent countless hours in discussion with business owners and entrepreneurs across our city, looking at the hard facts but yet seeking to inject HOPE into every situation.
The words “Nelson Mandela Bay Is Open For Business” has warmed that hearts of the Nelson Mandela Bay community at large and Mayor Trollip discussed this with vigour.
As a community station that loves local, business owners are welcomed to talk to Kingfisher to share their victories, disappointments and wisdom, plus the radio station endeavours to support the many charity initiatives across the city.
Kingfisher says; “It was with interest that we listened to Mayor Trollip discussing the coalition – his stance was a breath of fresh air that went out across the airwaves. He admitted to it being a challenging undertaking yet in his mind Nelson Mandela was an icon of reconciliation and negotiation and Mayor Trollips position on the coalition mirrored that of Mr Mandela – a working together to form unity. One of the best outcomes of the coalition he experienced and one that indeed brings hope to the people of our Bay was that of opposition parties sitting at a table speaking to each other and not past each other.”
Kingfisher FM believes that supporting our government with prayer is imperative.
“We call out for a fresh attitude. We promise to support local business. We challenge the people of our glorious Nelson Mandela Bay to turn their hearts towards the unity and reconciliation that our leaders are striving towards,” concluded Kingfisher.
