AFCON Tickets – Some Sanity Prevails

Much recent conversation in our household has centered around the slow marketing and purchase of tickets to games for the AFCON Cup 2013. Consensus is that whoever was responsible for allocating ticket sales to slected Superspars only must have been blind and deaf or walked away with a heavy back pocket. I pray for blind and deaf, though.

Lets face it – the desired soccer watching demographic buys at Shoprite (there I said it!). I like to think that if I was in charge of Spar I would have honestly turned down the opportunity to sell tickets in favour of a better distribution centre and as a necessary sacrifice for the face saving betterment of our country.

As it is tickets in Port Elizabeth will now also be sold at these venues between 09h00 and 17h00:

  • Monday, 14 January 2013: Shoprite Complex, Kwanobuhle
  • Tuesday, 15 January 2013 – Shoprite Complex, Motherwell
  • Wednesday, 16 January 2013 – Shoprite Complex, Kwanobuhle
  • Thursday, 17 January 2013 – Shoprite Complex, Motherwell
  • Friday, 18 January 2013 – Shoprite Complex, Kwanobuhle

With a reported 6 500 tickets sold for Port Elizabeth games, organisers have a lot of catch up to do.
