Absa RUN YOUR CITY DURBAN 10K set to showcase the pulse of Durban through its 2023 route experience

By

The Absa RUN YOUR CITY DURBAN 10K will boast an exhilarating line-up of route entertainment that is guaranteed to elevate the experience of all entrants on Sunday 09 July 2023.

“The 2023 Absa RUN YOUR CITY DURBAN 10K will incorporate the breathtaking backdrop of Durban’s iconic landmarks and scenic coastal routes, promising to be an unforgettable journey filled with music, dance, and vibrant performances from start to finish,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series. “Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a first-time participant, the on-route entertainment will leave you with lasting memories of an extraordinary event. Entrants will be mesmerized by the talent and creativity of Durban’s leading performing arts groups including dancers, musicians, and cultural performers, who will grace the course with their captivating displays. These groups always add a touch of magic to the race experience.”

In closing Meyer adds: “Adding to the on-route excitement will be a host of fantastic sponsor/partner activations including the Absa High 5 Zone, PUMA Forever Faster 100, DHL Mile, CHERY Cheer Zone and Woolies Dash. Additional activations to look out for will include Coca-Cola, Avalanche Bicycles, Garmin and Heineken to mention just a few. We invite all runners and walkers to lace up their takkies, embrace the rhythm of the city, and get ready for an extraordinary fusion of running and entertainment at the Absa RUN YOUR CITY DURBAN 10K.”

Absa’s Group Chief Marketing and Corporate Affairs Officer, Sydney Mbhele, says, “We are all excited and looking forward to a fun-filled 10k race in Durban. Participants will get to experience different elements, including the warm-up zone that will be located within the athlete-holding area. Our MC and dancers will facilitate the fun warm-up and interact with the runners before the race starts. Along the route, the runners will come across our Absa encouragement zone, where our colleagues and dancers will be cheering them on as they continue to tackle the race. Runners that joined Team Absa Walk Run on Strava will get access to the Absa grab-and-go hospitality area after the race.”

“The beauty of our hosting city is that it is known for its warm weather, beautiful beaches, and multicultural heritage. And this will undoubtedly enhance the race experience for all participants,” concludes Mbhele.
