A run on the Wild Side

15 November 2012 By Alan Straton

Perfect weather conditions are expected in the bay this Saturday as organizing club Achilles sets the stage for the annual Willows Resort Run. The event includes a 10km and a 5km run within the safe and picturesque Willows Resort.

The entrance fee for the 10km is R35 for club members or R60 for a temporary licence and entry fee and R20 for the 5km. Pre-entries can collect their race numbers on the morning of the race and late entries will be accepted without penalty before the start of the events. The 10km is scheduled for 7am and the 5km will be at 8:30am. The first 10 finishers in the 10km & 5km events receive gold medals, the next 190 receive silver and all finishers receive a bronze medal.

Other activities on offer include performances by musician Robert Gillmer, super tube and mini go-carts for the kids. MTR Smit Children’s Home will be hosting the Foodhall and The Willows Beer Garden will be selling refreshments. All participants and spectators have free access into the Willows Resort on Saturday.

For more information contact the organising club Achilles on 078 184 9723.

I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
