On Saturday 15 February the Longhair, the Apprentice Longhair and I took a slow drive in the gas guzzler along the Port Elizabeth beachfront – past the Campanile, Kings Beach, Humewood, Hobie and Pollock along Marine Drive.
I admit – it is “hell in Africa” and thank the almighty every day for our good fortune.
The maternal unit was happy to see us at the end of our journey!
Any guesses as to the model and vintage of the gas guzzler?

An emailed comment: OK Alan, put me out of my misery. Judging by the state of the windscreen
wiper whatever the car is it is in mint condition. Would guess it is a
late 60’s to mid 70’s yank – but don’t shoot me if I am wrong ! I am a
petrol head. Have owned 83 cars in total. Was member of the SCC in P.E
with Tubby Bennett & co. What is it?
I did email Lance back with the answer.
What vehicle do YOU think it is?
A 450 SLC Mercedes Benz
A true report: I sent this time lapse video to my sister in London which triggered her to come for a quick 10 day holiday here in Port Elizabeth. The power of marketing cannot be underestimated.
