Port Elizabeth’s first White Cane Fun Walk, hosted by the Port Elizabeth Eye and Laser Institute, together with the Port Elizabeth Provincial Ophthalmology Department, saw over 100 walkers support the cause of raising awareness of the white cane as a tool of independence for the visually impaired. In addition to raising awareness, sponsorships were also received to purchase white canes. These canes were presented to the Nkosinathi Foundation, which offers comprehensive services to blind or partially sighted individuals within the Eastern Cape.
