Zolani Mahola speaks at TEDx

A MyPE.co.za ‘Zolani Mahola’ selected video for you:

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Zolani takes us through her personal journey of growing up in New Brighton, and takes us back to a protest in 1989, the year of South Africa’s last ‘Whites Only’ election. The protest sound begins as a roar, and turns into a song. A song with an answer.

And it is with song that Zolani tells her stories, and is able to create a space of harmony. A moment of closed circle, a moment of real harmony.

Zolani Mahola is a South African singer and actor. Since 2002, she has been the lead singer of the South African music group Freshlyground.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
