Wylde Bridge, Swartkops in Grave Danger

We have lodged numerous complaints to the municipality regarding the heavy trucks that travel across Wylde Bridge.

As we know, the bridge is about 150 years old and was never designed to carry such heavy weights, thus the reason for the 5 ton signs.

The truck drivers are the problem as the conveniently ignore the weight restriction and take their 30 or even 50 ton trucks across that bridge.

Yesterday myself together with law enforcement officers Jane Jardine, Hank van de Waterr and also Dale Clayton from Zwartkops Conservancy did a visibility ops there to make note of all the trucks going across. The trucks that we spotted in a duration of two hours were interlinks from CJ Partners, Aspen Logistics and Lucerne Transport.

We have communicated to these companies about the complete disregard of other restricted areas too but they just dont comply and it seems they dont worry about the consequences should that bridge one day collapse and people lose their lives.

This is of serious concern and I think we need to put this in the spotlight so the media and authorities can see what is happening and how our history is being destroyed.
