A 38-year-old Maokeng woman was nabbed by police at her place of residence in Gelukwarts in Maokeng on Wednesday, 29 December 2021, for dealing in drugs.
Maokeng SAPS Crime Prevention members in conjunction with Community Police Forum (CPF) were conducting Safer Festive Season operations, when they followed up information on a house where drugs are sold. At about 11:30, they arrived at the target address.
A woman was found in the house who allowed members to carry on with the purpose of their visit. As the house was searched, members saw a shoe box on top of the bed headboard in the bedroom. The shoebox contained tablets that looks like mandrax and ziploc plastic bags with substance suspected to be crystal meth as well as cash. She was arrested for dealing in drugs.
On further investigation it was revealed that seized drugs were 19 ziploc packets of crystal meth, full 40 tablets, 29 half tablets, 1 packet containing crushed mandrax powder. All the drugs were estimated to be valued at about R10 000 in street value.
The woman will be charged for dealing in drugs. She will appear at Kroonstad Magistrate’s Court soon.
