The first wind turbines arrived at the Coega IDZ, Zone 1’s newly established R9-million laydown area. The wind turbines are being transported to the laydown area by ALE Heavylift SA trucks and cranes. The 12 hectare abnormal cargo facility is located on the boundary between the Port of Ngqura and the Coega Industrial Development Zone (IDZ) and will be used as a temporary storage site for wind turbines. A R1.2-million deal was signed between the CDC and ALE Heavylift South Africa, a heavy transport and lifting services company, for the storage of abnormal cargo is the first project tenant occupying the laydown area in the Coega IDZ.
