Dear Alan
It has been a while since you have heard from us. Much has happened in the meantime. Essentially, Paarlcoldset, owners of the printing press facility, completed their factory building extension, and were able to deliver on their promise of resolving the noise issue. We have experienced a significant improvement. As early as June, we noticed a change to the throbbing noise. We recently received feedback from committee members and other residents, and we are glad to say that we consider this nuisance now resolved. The sound from the press is still audible at night though, but the annoying throbbing effect, which formed the basis of our complaints over the years, is now well within tolerable levels.
We wish to thank you for your valuable help in highlighting our cause to the MyPE readership.
We are grateful to see an end to a saga that began so many years ago. It goes to prove that fighting windmills can, if one perseveres, yield results.
Best regards
Executive Committee: Concerned Residents, Printing Press Noise Nuisance
Members: Eddie Westraadt (Chair), Nikki Hunt, Jeremy Hunt, Ricardo Franse
Editors Notes: Well done to Paarl Coldset and the residents for BOTH proving that communities CAN resolve issues eventually.
