At 1:00 pm today the Executive Mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Cllr Zanoxolo Wayile, will address a media and stakeholder briefing on water restrictions and the water situation in the city in general.
I repeat what I said on 11 July; “With the average capacity now standing at 89.2% only a mad masochistic dictator would continue to deny the beleaguered ratepayers some form of concession around the water restrictions.”
Major Storage Dams supplying the Metro (levels as at 20 July 2011). Capacity – Volume of water:
- Kouga: 100% – 125 910 Ml
- Churchill: 100% – 35 240
- Impofu: 71,2% – 75 251
- Loerie: 100% – 3 026
- Groendal: 100% – 11 640
- Average all: 89,2% (251 067 Ml) of total combined capacity.
A new number has crept into the reporting: Kromme system (Churchill & Impofu combined) = 78,4%. I wonder if this is an indication that the water restrictions will be partially lifted based on the Kromme System and it’s levels going forward?
