Warriors Permutations Doesn’t Guarantee a Home Final

28 November 2011 By Alan Straton

The Chevrolet Warriors are currently 2nd on the One-Day Cup log and will travel to Pretoria for their final group stage match against the Titans to be played on Wednesday.

The situation for the Warriors at this stage is as follows:

  • Cobras are currently top of the log with 28  points and they have to play Dolphins on Wednesday.  If they win they will go to 32 points – if they win with a bonus point they go to 33.
  • Chevrolet Warriors are on 25 points (2nd on log) and play Titans on Wednesday.  A win for the Warriors will mean they go to 29 points or 30 points if they get a bonus point.
  • Chevrolet Knights are on 23 points and play the Lions on Wednesday.  A win for the Knights will take them to 27 points or 28 if they win with a bonus point.
  • If the Warriors finish 2nd on the log they will play the qualifier at Buffalo Park on Sunday 4 December 2011.  Should the Knights win and the Warriors loose the qualifier will be played in Bloemfontein on Sunday 4 December 2011.
  • However if the Warriors win and Cobras lose then the Warriors will be top of the log and the final will be played at Buffalo Park on Friday 9 December 2011.

As can be seen above there are still a number of permutations in play and only once all 3 group matches have been played on Wednesday will we know where the qualifier and final will be played.

A 13 man squad will travel to Pretoria and is as follows: Colin Ingram (Captain), Jon Jon Smuts, Arno Jacobs, Ashwell Prince, Justin Kreusch, Nicky Boje, Johan Botha, Wayne Parnell, Athenkosi Dyili, Rusty Theron, Craig Thyssen, Andrew Birch and Makhaya Ntini.
