Warriors aiming to slam Titans

21 February 2013 By Alan Straton

The Ram Slam T20 series comes to Port Elizabeth this Friday (22 February) when the Chevrolet Warriors take on the Nashua Titans in the shorter version of the game.

The match last Sunday against the Chevrolet Knights saw Christiaan Jonker come to the fore with his magnificent 66 not out off 44 balls and a superb innings from Colin Ingram who scored 46 off 43 helped the Warriors to beat the Knights by 8 wickets.

The match on Friday gets underway at 6pm. Gates will open at 5:00 pm and fans will get the opportunity to meet the players after the match when they will be available for autographs. Castle Corner will also be a hive of activity for the randomly selected 3 over “Power Play” when fans will be able to get 2 for the price of 1.

Some new innovations from sponsor RAM will see the umpires and opening bastmen being driven to the middle in a special RAM delivery van. Giveaways and a KFC action zone will all form part of the fun activities on the night.

Tickets are available at the ticket office, www.ticketpros.co.za or at any Postnet outlet. Tickets cost R60 for adults and R25 for scholar and pensioners. A special student ticket (student card to be produced) is available at R40 at the stadium ticket office only.

The squad for the match on Friday is as follows: D. Jacobs (Captain), A. Prince, C. Ingram, J. Smuts, K. Smuts, M. Ntini, A. Gqamane, C. Jonker, A. McLaren, A. Birch, S. Harmer, W. Parnell, C. Thyssen and R. Theron.

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
