The opposition party in Nelson Mandela Bay, the ANC, delivered a petition to the new government on 1 December citing 13 ‘areas of concern’.
Here Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Athol Trollip responds to allegations by the opposition that “The Speaker [was] protecting the bad racial behaviour of the Ward 40 Councillor”
Trollip said that all Ward staff and DA Councillors who had been accused of racial slurs had submitted themselves to lie detector tests and an audit of their computer equipment whilst the accusers had refused such scrutiny. “Makes one think, doesn’t it?” said Trollip.
