Video of Firearm Incident in Walmer Park Mall Port Elizabeth – slowed down and discussed

14 September 2020 By Port Elizabethan

Watch more videos From Port Elizabeth.

This is my interpretation of the video that was placed online by ENews Mzansi. All credit to original videographer.

00:00:00 – The Video Starts playing.

From what I can see (from a Mall Map, taken from the Walmer Park WebSite), the EFF members are present in front of Clicks (Shop 46), which is to the left of the video.
To the rear is the entrance to Edgars (Shop 87) which is next to Bidvest Bank (Shop 89).
To the right would be and Capitec Bank (Shop 90).
Next to Capitec, opposite Clicks is iStore (Shop 90).
FNB Bank (Shop 120) is right at Entrance 2 to the right of the video.
Opposite FNB, to the left of the video, is Tekkie Town (Shop 118) and Nedbank (Shop 119), which is at Entrance 2.

00:03:10 – The Video Zooms in

In the Video, the two people in what must be EFF regalia can be seen: One man wearing a red baseball cap and a lady wearing a red T-shirt. They are both to the left of the frame – in front of Clicks. We will call them RSL (Red Shirt Lady) and RCM (Red Cap Man).

The elderly lady – whom we will call EL (Elderly Lady) can be seen, to the right of the frame, on the opposite side of the passage, in front of the iStore. She is virtually surrounded by about 6 people in reflective vests – assumed to be security guards – we will call them SGs (Security Guards).

00:05:16 – A tall man in a blue shirt with “16” on the back appears in the frame. He moves from left (Clicks side) to the right (iStore Side), to where the EL and the SGs are present. At this stage, his affiliation to EFF is not known or confirmed. We will call him BSM (Blue-shirt man).

00:08:00 – BSM tries to make contact with EL but is prevented from doing so by SGs, who physically have to push him back, to prevent contact.

00:08:22 – A Lady with a white shirt, with her bag over her shoulder – we will call her SWH (White Shirt Lady) is seen seemingly making a cell phone recording of the incident.

00:09:19 – RSL steps forward and closer, to just behind BSM. He is now no longer in Clicks, but more towards iStore, as well.

00:13:00 – BSM persists in his physical contact with the SGS and RSL actually pulls him back, away from them.

00:14:00 – RHM can be seen, seemingly making a cell phone recording of the incident as well.

00:19:07 – For the first time, EL can be seen clearly. She is on the iStore side. She has no cell phone in her hand. Her left hand is at her side and her right hand tucked into the top of her blouse/jersey. Her hand remains there continuously.

00:26:19 – EL and SG’s are walking away, towards Entrance 2 and reaches FNB, having passed Capitec Bank. They are now no longer at or opposite Clicks and are leaving. EL can be seen pausing, seemingly saying something.

00:28:10 – As EL and SG’s reach FNB, RHm, RSL and BSM can be seen following them along. None of them is now at Clicks, any longer. A lady with a red shirt can also be seen entering the frame clearly. We will call her RSL2 (Red Shirt Lady 2).

00:33:18 – At this stage, everyone has moved away from Clicks, approached Entrance to, seemingly to leave, and now RSL2 and BSM can be seen pointing at and seemingly confronting the EL and/or the SGs. El can be seen turning posture, with her back to the wall of Capitec Bank.

00:35:00 – One of the SGs steps forward and turns towards the BSM, seemingly trying to prevent him from approaching EL.
All parties are moving together. BSM, RSL, RSL2 and RCM – along with some uninvolved people – have followed the SGs and the EL all along, almost to the exit.

00:44:10 – By now everyone is in front of FNB, almost at the Entrance, where they would exit.

00:45:17 – While there is a sign obscuring the view, BSM seemingly pushes or strikes the EL – based on their coordinated body movements and his and her physical reactions to each other.

00:46:21 – EL now rotates to face BSM and withdraws her firearm from her blouse.jersey. She has pivoted to face him directly.

00:49:00 – One SG is seen physically pushing back BSM aggressively – causing him to stumble, as EL fully exposes and points her firearm at BSM. RSL and RCM are still present – almost at the exit. At this stage, no one can be seen at Clicks any longer.

00:52:25 – Several SGs can be seen shielding EL and seemingly gesturing for her not to point her firearm.

00:55:07 – The SGs and El can now be seen to present right in front of the FNB Main door – almost at Exit 2.

00:56:11 – One SG physically steps in front of EL and shields bystanders with his body. This causes EL to retract her firearm away from bystanders.

00:58:16 – EL pivots back and turns away and starts walking again, towards Entrance 2.

01:02:05 – EL can be seen re-inserting her firearm into her shirt or jersey, as they all continue to exit the mall at Entrance 2.

01:04:00 – The clip ends as the SGs and the EL are seen exiting at Entrance 2.
