Dear Editor
The letter by Malaika Wa Azania [The Herald 8 August 2023] is a great highlight on what we South Africans are papering-over as vandalism, whilst it is pure treason. When someone is tarnishing the image of one’s country, then that is pure treason.
I am almost always vilified as a “sell-out” by shallow-minded individuals, snobs and status-conscious people alike whenever I point out that there is no single race group in South Africa that loves this country more than the Afrikaner. The typical post-Apartheid Africanists can never hold a candle against Afrikaners when it comes to the genuine love for this country. Africanists [read Black Bigots and lately mushrooming Khoisan chieftains] often make a noise about Land Land Land demagoguery, whilst wanting riches for themselves through mostly mineral excavation and RDP [Reconstruction & Development Programme] houses for their non-reading; let alone non-researching shack-dwelling madding crowd.
As someone who studied Public Relations and was consequently told by Black Educational Snobs [BES] and Verkrampte Witmense [VW] aka White Supremacists that I have studied a “soft skill course that is suited for women and will take you nowhere”, the way we treat our country and its resources, is the same contempt that illegal refugees are treating South Africa as a country and its citizenry through emulating our disdain for anything related to the sovereignity of South Africa Incorporated.
To paraphrase from the holy scriptures, it is akin to Noah’s son that made a spectacle of their blind-drunk father who laid naked in a stupor versus the one who covered him up for outsiders not to disrespect the entire brood, because of a self-hating son. Now, we wonder why foreigners have contempt for us; we are the ones who teach them that we are not worthy of their respect through treachery.
