Urgent Notice – Falsified Email

Some of the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber members have received a falsified email claiming to come from the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber. It requests the member to open a “Microsoft Encrypted Document”.

If you receive such an email DO NOT OPEN it or the attached document as the document contains a virus. You are advised to delete the email.

All Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber Communication is sent from the chamber’s official email addresses (nmbbusinesschamber.co.za) and NOT from a Gmail (Google) address.

BUT ….

Please also be aware that messages could be sent to you that APPEAR to come from a legitimate address (such as nmbbusinesschamber.co.za or MyPE.co.za) – this is called spoofing.

Email spoofing is the creation of email messages with a forged sender address. Because the core email protocols do not have any mechanism for authentication, it is common for spam and phishing emails to use such spoofing to mislead the recipient about the origin of the message.
