The first ever two day Pro-Am in Port Elizabeth, proudly hosted by The Humewood Golf Club and Wedgewood Golf Clubs will take place on the 12th & 13th June 2016 with a limited field of 25 PGA Professionals and 75 amateur golfers from around the country participating each day.
With R30000 up for grabs over the two days, the Pro’s are gearing up to once again take on the 96th ranked course in the world and the only “true links” course in Africa on the first day, following which they will test their skills on Port Elizabeth’s favourite Golf Estate, Wedgwood on the second day. Both course are in pristine condition with their identical bent grass greens and undulating fairways.
Brendon Timm, the Head PGA Professional at Humewood had this to say; “We are proud to be hosting this event, its double the size from last year with double the money up for grabs. Neil Kruger from the Southern Cape and the leading PGA Professional on the order of merit, will be in attendance. Local Professionals will have home advantage and will definitely want to dethrone him. Im excited to announce the Jaguar Land Rover Eastern Cape have come on board once again and we are truly grateful for the support in making this all possible. As you will know, smaller charities are very close to my hart and the money we raise from this event will go a long way in securing a better future for our younger generation.”
Dylan Wightman said; “Jaguar Land Rover Eastern Cape have long standing relationship with Brendon Timm from the Humewood Golf Course, when Brendon approached me last year regarding the one day Pro Am Sponsorship, we were very grateful that we were able to help, and with the event being such a success in 2015, he approached me again this year for the two day Pro Am Sponsorship, and thankfully we are in the position to be able to sponsor yet another good cause. It’s really a privilege that we are in the position to be able to sponsor this important event, the funds are going towards a deserving charity, Zanethemba Foundation, knowing that we have been able to help provide for children that are in need.”
Zanethemba Director Catherine van Rensburg said; “Zanethemba Charity Foundation would like to extend a heartfelt thanks Dylan Wightman and Jaguar Land Rover Eastern Cape for sponsoring the Pro-Am. We would also like to extend a very special thank you to Toc H for nominating our charity as the beneficiary and to Brendon Timm and the Humewood Golf Club for organising these events. Zanethemba Baby Haven is a temporary safe care facility for abused, abandoned and neglected children aged 0 to 6 years. We currently have six children in our care and have plans to expand our services to accommodate 12 children in total. Zanethemba means “to bring hope” and that is exactly what we want to do for these children placed in our care. We want to let them know and feel how precious and loved they are and do the best we can for them while in our care. We are grateful to Jaguar Land Rover Eastern Cape and Humewood Golf Club as it will better enable Zanethemba Charity Foundation to continue addressing the critical need of children at risk in Port Elizabeth.”
