Time to Put the TwoTone Penguin Suit On and Shine

28 March 2012 By Alan Straton

TwoTone Music is back with a slick song and dance extravaganza that promises to be a treat for the ears as well as the eyes! The show ‘Buble & Beyond’ is the launch of TwoTone‘s brand new concept, The Tuxedo Club.

Michael Buble meets ol’ Blue Eyes, the Rat Pack and other icons of song in this salute to the finest tuxedo-clad showmen of recent years. A selection of top-class entertainers directed by TwoTone Music’s Ulagh Williams performs timeless classics and popular sing-along hits while audience members can take advantage of the dance floor until late!

More than just a Buble tribute, the show also features hits by Tony Bennett, the Rat Pack and Louis Prima. Old school charm meets sizzling swing – all performed by a sexy and suave pack of gentlemen with choreography by Chireen Ferreira.

The cast features scat man Brinley Yon, TwoTone newcomer Frances Pratt and theatre regular Werner Viljoen (who recently wowed audiences with his lead role in G&S’s Fiela’s Child). Crooner Iain McLaggan and another TwoTone all-rounder Jean Marc Suntah will round out the pack, which will be backed by live musicians led by musical director Ulagh Williams on piano.

‘This is going to be what TwoTone started out doing a few years ago’ says Williams. ‘Top class entertainment with live brass and a grand piano. Real music, made by real musicians – add to that some smooth dance moves and fresh arrangements, an eye-catching set and lighting design and what’s not to like? The guys look great in tuxes and sound fantastic – and our horn players are top notch. Whether you like old school swing jazz or enjoy pop hits from singers like Buble, you’ll be hooked on The Tuxedo Club!’

The Tuxedo Club’s debut show will be staged at Summerwood Primary School Hall (2nd Ave Summerstrand) on 20 and 21 April. Membership to the exclusive Tuxedo Club costs R95 which covers entry fees to the debut show and entitles members to discounted tickets and other benefits on the remaining 3 shows to be hosted this year.

As an added bonus, the first 100 patrons to book for the show will be entered into a lucky draw to win a live cocktail jazz performance by TwoTone for any private or corporate function in 2012. ‘If your party or event needs a sophisticated touch, this prize will come in very handy!’ says Williams. ‘5-star class and glitz for your special event or party – free of charge!’

Table seating is restaurant style (unreserved) and there will be a bar available. No alcohol to be brought onto premises. Patrons may bring along snack baskets. The show starts at 20h00 and doors will open 30 minutes prior to start.

To book, call 083 627 4686.
