Those Pesky Aliens

8 May 2024 By Port Elizabethan

The WESSA Algoa Bay Branch May 2024 alien clearing will be on Saturday 11 May 2024 in Driftsands Drive Humewood from 09:00 – 11:00.

This is part of our ongoing efforts to stem the spread of the Rooikrans and other alien invaders in this environmentally vulnerable spot. Invasive species still seriously threaten the sensitive indigenous bush. The objective is to eradicate these alien plants and give the local vegetation a good chance to recover and re-establish itself. Dedicating your time and efforts in this way is much appreciated.

We will provide some tools, but please bring your own bow saw or lopper (if possible). Also bring a hat, water, sunscreen and normal garden gloves. Look out for the WESSA feather banner along Driftsands Drive.

To get there from the Forest Hill side go down Forest Hill / La Roche Drive and turn left at the La Roche Dr, Strandfontein Rd, Driftsands Drive traffic light intersection. The WESSA flag marks the starting point.
For more information contact Gisela on 073 124 2045

Advance notice:

The next WESSA ABB Beach Cleanup will be on Saturday 25 May 2024 at the Bluewater Bay swimming beach, 09:30 to 10:30. Details to follow.
