
Thoba Goba is a professional recording and performing session musician from Port Elizabeth whose very diverse style on genres Jazz; Afro-Soul; Soul; Pop; Hip- Hop; Gospel; Rock and RnB. He completed his studies with Honors in Music at Nelson Mandela University and is an assistant Drum Lecturer/Tutor at the institution alongside Lloyd Martin.
His journey with the drums began at a tender age and later joined his school’s steel band going onto perform at various school competitions around South Africa and won all categories, which not only enhanced his self- confidence but also his ear for music.
In 2006 he was approached to be part of the popular band New Afroteens. During his time with the band Thoba has shared the stage with nationally and internationally acclaimed artists such as: George Benson; Hugh Masekela; Puff Johnson; Judith Sephuma; Don Laka and Siphokazi Maraqana.
He has appeared on the national broadcaster’s programmes such as: Morning Live; HHP`s Respect Hectic Nine-9; Isidingo The Need and also appearing on Soweto TV.
Thoba has gone on to work with the cream of local and national acts such as Asanda Mqiki; Sizwe Yaze; Mc Coy Mrubata; Lex Futshane; Luyanda Madope; Shane Eagle; Asanda Bam; Camagwini; Titi Luzipho and Phumlani Titi.
