Goodyear South Africa has once again been officially certified by the Top Employers Institute as a Top Employer 2020 for excellence in employee conditions. This global certification has been awarded to Goodyear for the fifth time this year, cementing its position as the leading Top Employer tyre manufacturing company in South Africa. Promoting collaboration and having energised teams is core to how Goodyear builds talent and an engaged workforce. It is for this reason that Goodyear is proud to be a Top Employer.

The Top Employers Institute designed a Human Resources (HR) Best Practices Survey which examines a wide range of HR practices and policies. When companies implement and manage these practices successfully, they maximize their chances of being a Top Employer. As such, Goodyear is always proud to be recognised as a Top Employer because it gives credence that its human resources tools and processes are effective. These tools help employees progress through the organisation and in turn helps Goodyear to attract, develop, motivate and retain top talent through various programmes.

Darren Hayes-Powell, Group Managing Director of Goodyear South Africa stated, “It is an honour for Goodyear to be certified as a Top Employer as it demonstrates our continued dedication to providing the very best work atmosphere for our employees. I am proud of our diverse team, our Graduate-In-Training Programme which continues to provide us with a fresh pool of talent and the latest additions to our team who form part of the Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme.”

The Top Employers Institute Programme provides certified organisations with the ability to leverage their employer branding, benchmark their practices against other top performers and globally align their policies. Top Employers are organisations of the highest calibre that have worked hard to create, implement and progress their people strategies. They provide an outstanding experience through strategic and thoughtful workplace programmes which create an environment that empowers and develops employees.

In previous years, Goodyear has managed to receive the Top Employer Seal four times. “The 2020 certification is our fifth and we are truly excited to be the only tyre manufacturer to do it five times. Taking the certification home to our offices is always a momentous occasion for us as a team and is testament that our efforts of creating a great place to work, makes us part of a global community of forward-thinking organisations that strive for only the best people practices,” concluded Hayes-Powell.
