Sir William Paulet (c.1483-1572) is perhaps unique in his long public career at a time of great political and religious turmoil. He held positions under Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth I, notably as one of the judges for the trials of Sir Thomas More and the alleged accomplices of Anne Boleyn. Indeed, it was of Sir William Paulet that Elizabeth I commented, “for, by my troth, if my lord treasurer were but a young man, I could find it in my heart to have him for a husband before any man in England.”
Dr Alan Bryson of the University of Sheffield will survey the influence of Sir William Paulet with relation to the Port of London.
This is a part of the Tudor Ports of London series celebrating the centenary of the Port of London Authority (PLA).

Vimeo is a video sharing platform that was launched in 2004 by a group of filmmakers. Since then, the platform has grown exponentially with most users being creators and artists in film, animation, music and other works of art who use Vimeo as a way to share and promote their work. Because Vimeo is regarded as more of a professional network of artists, the community is much more appreciative of the content that gets shared there, resulting in kinder and more useful discussions compared to YouTube.
