The Last Shark Documentary delves into the disappearance of great white sharks off South Africa’s coast and the ongoing use of shark culling nets in KwaZulu Natal, which tragically claims the lives of at least 20 of these critically endangered creatures each year. It’s astonishing to think that, despite being the first country to grant them legal protection in 1991, this continues.

A special screening of this documentary will take place on 7 December 2023 at Chicky’s Yard RHBC from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

The film aims to change our perception of sharks, shed light on their rapidly declining population, and to advocate for a shift in government policies. We’re pushing for the replacement of shark culling nets with alternative technologies that can safeguard both sharks and humans. It’s a pressing issue, especially considering the global white shark population hovers between 3,000 and 5,000. The time for action is now.
