Oh wow, what a balmy evening we had tonight. Popped out to try and cool down a bit earlier and snapped a photo of the full moon with my phone. As I’m typing this now at 11:40 pm I am drying off after a light night swim. And I’m still hot. Tonight’s full moon by the way is called the Full Wolf Moon. It’s a name given to the full moon of January by the Native American people long ago because amid the cold temperatures and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside the Native American villages. Cold temperatures and deep snow? Man, I feel like another quick swim…

Walking along the Fynbos Trail at Schoenmakerskop observing the devastation of the recent fires I just realised again how the little guys, like tortoises and snails, are the biggest victims.
