The Countdown On – Mind Matters Is Taking Over Cape Town Before Taking the Conversation Global

28 September 2026 By Alan Straton Leave a Comment

From daily meditation and breathwork to gut-biome mastery, mental fitness and contrast therapy, Mind Matters is turning the countdown to its October Summit into a city-wide programme of mental performance training – before taking the conversation global.

Cape Town – The countdown to the Mind Matters Summit™ 2026 is no longer simply about two days at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Between 16-27 October, Cape Town will become a living training ground for mental performance as Mind Matters, together with its partners, launches Mental Mastery Week, a 12-day programme of experiences designed to prepare people physically and mentally for the Summit on 29 October.

Mind Matters is expanding its focus beyond the Summit itself.  Creating opportunities, in and around Cape Town, for people to experience and practise mental performance tools in the weeks leading up to the main event through a combination of free and ticketed sessions.

“Every activity in Mental Mastery Week has been chosen for its measurable neurological and physiological impact, not its aesthetic appeal,” says Kanchana Moodliar, Founder and CEO of Mind Matters Summit™. “This is not yet another wellness retreat, rather a training programme with a specific outcome: arriving at the Mind Matters Summit on 29 October with a nervous system primed for transformation.”

Moving beyond the Summit stage

Mental Mastery Week has been designed to make the principles behind Mind Matters accessible beyond the conference environment, while creating greater awareness around practices that can support mental performance – particularly during Mental Wellbeing Month.

Participants can expect a daily programme of practical experiences, including:

  • Daily meditation sessions with a community of like-minded people and expert teachers
  • Promenade walks and runs
  • Yoga
  • Gut-Biome Mastery
  • Mental Fitness Workshops
  • Breathwork
  • Cold and Hot Contrast Therapy

The programme is intended to offer different entry points into mental mastery, whether participants are looking to improve focus and resilience, better understand their nervous system, develop practical stress-management skills or simply experience techniques that can support greater clarity and performance.

Full details of the programme, including free and ticketed sessions, are available at www.mindmatters-summit.com.

Continuing the momentum after the Summit

On 30 October, Mind Matters Summit™, together with the Robben Island Museum, will launch an extraordinary 2.5-hour live global broadcast from Robben Island, taking the principles of mental mastery from South Africa to an international audience.

The broadcast will give people around the world the opportunity to learn practical approaches for creating more peace, clarity and freedom in their minds.

Four global experts – each bringing a different facet of mental mastery – will lead the experience, drawing on neuroscience,  ancient wisdom and practical, life-changing techniques. All four will also feature at the Mind Matters Summit on 29 October, connecting the global broadcast directly to the Summit experience.

Why Robben Island?

A place that has become an enduring global symbol of freedom and human resilience will provide the setting for a conversation about another kind of freedom: the ability to understand, train and ultimately master one’s own mind.

Two days. One reset

The Mind Matters Summit takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on 29–30 October 2026.

Day One (29 October), brings together approximately 1 500 delegates, including experts, doctors, business leaders and high performers, alongside the launch of the Mind Matters coaching platform. Day Two (30 October), Unslave Your Mind™, moves beyond the traditional conference format into an immersive experience designed to take what is learned on stage and move it from the head into the body.

The Summit is built on the premise that mental fitness is exactly that – fitness. It can be trained, strengthened and mastered.  Now, with Mental Mastery Week and the Robben Island global broadcast added to the October programme, Mind Matters is extending that philosophy beyond the Summit venue – from individual practice, to collective experience, to a global conversation about mental freedom.

“Most people are taught to manage their stress. We think that is the wrong goal. Stress is not the enemy. An untrained mind is,” says Moodliar. “Mental fitness can be built and it can be mastered, and the tools are no longer reserved for the few. The future will test everyone. The question is: will you be ready?”

About Mind Matters Summit™

Mind Matters Summit is South Africa’s mental fitness platform for elite performers and the organisations that depend on them. Built on hard neuroscience rather than wellness trends, it equips individuals and teams with a practical toolkit for mental mastery, unshakeable calm and sustained high performance.
