One of South Africa’s fastest-growing chains of stores serving frozen treats is coming to Port Elizabeth.
Wakaberry Port Elizabeth will be inspiring the friendly people of PE and tourists alike from this October to reconnect with their inner child and enjoy frozen treats at The Boardwalk.

When I told the Apprentice Longhair about our invite to the opening she responded (from her Practical Art Final exam nogal!) as follows; “It’s a dream come true! I can’t wait, its like my version of heaven!”
The city’s first Wakaberry, self-serve frozen yoghurt bar with the pay per weight system opening its doors in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, October 26 at nine in the morning.
Wakaberry is 100% South African owned and opened its doors for the first time in Durban, May 2011 by three Durbanites.
In just two years Wakaberry has grown to 25 stores in five provinces (the PE store will take it to 26 stores in 6 privinces), and by the end of 2013 there will be an extra six Wakaberry stores in the country.
“Wakaberry has always been about more than just really good frozen yoghurt,” says co-founder Michele Fourie. “We have strived to create a brand that inspires loyalty and fun. Our stores are destinations where our customers come to enjoy a top notch product at their leisure, in their own way.”
Customers, or “Wakafans” as they are affectionately known, can swirl their own yoghurt and then dispense their own toppings from the famous and sumptuous Wakaberry toppings bars. There are over 50 froyo flavours to choose from, and these are rotated weekly in each store.
Wakafans can log onto the Wakaberry website or mobi-site to see what flavours their local store is swirling that week.
Be one of the first fifty people to connect with your friends and families at The Boardwalk with a Wakaberry treat on Saturday, October 26 and receive a Wakaberry prize pack.
