Terra-Khaya or ‘Earth Home’ is a backpackers and camping facility and eco-farm. It celebrates a mindful, alternative way of living. This beautiful smallholding is situated way up in the forested hills of Hogsback where eco-conscious, sustainable living is practised. The accommodation is designed along eco-friendly principles and built almost entirely from recycled and scrap materials. The design of the cottages was inspired by the fact that a large portion of the South African population is forced by circumstance to live in shacks also built from scrap and recycled materials and yet they survive. That is why cottages have names like Kayalitsha and Kayamandie. The cottages are simple, creative, comfortable, 100% off the grid and shows that you can live comfortable in a shack-like structure. Terra-Khaya offers friendly & uncomplicated service, comfortable double and family rooms, a cozy dormitory, delicious African fusion cuisine and memorable horse rides. A sense of living guaranteed!
