Tenants gearing up for opening of new-look Boardwalk

12 September 2012 By Alan Straton

Major tenants at The Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World are investing millions of rand in upgrades ahead of the completion of The Boardwalk’s own R1-billion hotel, convention centre and new casino facilities.

With the majority of the fast food outlets now trading successfully in a new zone overlooking the lake, work has started on the popular News Café.

“Our new look is cool and contemporary with new some new comfy furniture,” says operational owner Sandy Zoetmulder.

“One of the new innovations we are excited about is Liquid Wallpaper, which uses a product of specially developed paint which, when applied with a patented roller and pattern, has the visual effect of wallpaper. This is also eco-friendly,” she says.

“The News Café revamp has been timed to coincide with the completion of the construction of the 140-room five-star hotel, international-standard convention centre and health spa,” says Clifford Ngakane, general manager of The Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World.

“More upgrades will be done to other favourite restaurants, including Dulce’s and El Greco, both of which are expanding. Their investment shows that they are confident that The Boardwalk will remain the favourite tourist and leisure destination in Nelson Mandela Bay,” he says.

According to Zoetmulder, the News Café’s waitrons will also be sporting a “new look,” with uniforms by the Soviet designer label.

“We will also be launching our new Face of News Cafe food and cocktail menus,” she says.

A party “featuring DJ’s, fire dancers, champagne and cocktails specials is planned for the News Café reopening on Friday, September 28.
