Tech incubator client films video for Nigerian pop artist in Nelson Mandela Bay:

DREAM BIG: DBE House co-founders Mpumelelo Peyi and Thembela Landu has turned their big dreams into reality. DBE House is a client of the Seda Nelson Mandela Bay ICT Incubator (SNII) and are based in Newton Park, Port Elizabeth.

Port Elizabeth, 25 July 2016 – Dream Big Entertainment House (DBE House), a client within the Seda Nelson Mandela Bay ICT Incubator (SNII), is currently working on the post-production of two music videos for a Nigerian pop music artist.

DBE House joined SNII as a client in March this year and specialises in animation, photography, graphic designing and videography. The videos for pop music artist Slim Brown were filmed in Port Elizabeth at a popular coastal resort and also features several models from the Nelson Mandela Bay metro.

SNII Executive Manager Phumza Mfenyana said he was pleased to have DBE as a client of the incubator.

“As an ICT incubator we create a platform for companies, including multi-media production companies, to grow and expand their businesses,” Mfenyana said.

DBE House co-founders Mpumelelo Peyi and Thembela Landu said the incubator has been extremely supportive.

“The team at SNII has taught us how to run our own business. The incubator will also open markets for us and help grow our business. Since opening our offices at the incubator, we have noticed an element of respect and professionalism when we tell people we have an office here,” said Peyi.

Peyi and Landu are determined to grow into a bigger business.
“We have so much more to offer. We are still learning new things and continuously interact with other like-minded individuals,” said Landu who works as a set designer and camera man at DBE.

Their other film productions include shooting a music video for Uitenhage artist Crown; a documentary of how someone who was once unemployed created his own salon franchise and has trained and created work for many other people in the Transkei and Port Elizabeth.

They have also worked with fashion designer Thabo Makhetha and produced a short film which was then submitted to the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Bokeh South African International Fashion Film Festival.

As part of DBE House’s commitment to creative industries, they frequently try to create a platform for upcoming artists.

“We try to search for raw talent from previously disadvantage communities and film their videos which are then posted online. These artists are talented, and we want to show everyone what they have to offer,” said Peyi.

The duo has established working relationships in Nigeria, Johannesburg and elsewhere in the Eastern Cape. They are determined to take West Africa by storm in future.

“We believe that we can grow the film industry in the Bay, generate income and create jobs,” Peyi said.

They also produce animated videos for companies.

“We did research and realised that traditional marketing does not always serve its purpose. These animated videos assists corporates to relay their message in a more colourful way. Using animated videos can also help with selling a product or services in a livelier method. Corporates can stand out from the competition using animation,” said Peyi.
