The fight against water wastage was highlighted by the Executive Mayor Athol Trollip this week. Mayor Trollip visited the operations centre behind the number residents are encouraged to phone to report any water leaks or pipe bursts - 0800205050. The Executive Mayor's visit arises out of his concern about the state of our water supply. The Metro does not have enough water to serve its residents' current demands. In addition to a call on Metro citizens to reduce their own water usage by 15%, … [Read more...] about 0800 20 5050 Key to stopping water leaks

I have found new empathy for the Metro looking for all those water leaks
A recent report - http://mype.co.za/new/42-of-water-lost-between-dam-and-tap/76066/2016/09 - stated that the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropole loses 42% of it's water from Dam to Tap. From personal experience with an elusive water leak I now have new empathy for the Municipality finding all those leaks from Dam to Tap. The leak you see on our property above literally took us three months to find as we installed stop cocks along all lines, broke concrete, shouted at water users, gave up and … [Read more...] about I have found new empathy for the Metro looking for all those water leaks
NMB water leaks crisis is easily solvable

600 water leaks in Despatch and Khayamnandi remain broken
Dear MyPE The Mayor's promise to solve the Despatch and Khayamnandi water supply crisis has proved to be another broken promise, with more leaks and burst pipes than ever before. At a council sitting on the 16th July 2015, the Mayor promised to prioritise this crisis by placing it on his hypothetical "dashboard". But over four months down the line, hundreds of thousands of litres of water continue to flow from over 600 leaks in the area, because Mayor Jordaan has again broken his … [Read more...] about 600 water leaks in Despatch and Khayamnandi remain broken
War on Leaks? Start in Malabar!
Dear MyPE I have complained many times to the NMMM about the wastage below. Yesterday I got an email quoting a reference number for the water leak. But still nothing about the lights My original complaint: "I wish to complain about the Street lights in Haworthia Drive, Calendula Drive, Alysum Crescent and Dahlia Street. They are burning 24 hours a day. The one in Haworthia Drive has been burning for about 14 days in a row and the ones in Calendula Drive, Alysum Crescent and Dahlia Street … [Read more...] about War on Leaks? Start in Malabar!
Officials and Councillors That Are Not Doing Their Jobs
Day two of the Mayoral Committee visit got off to a good start today with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's team of 60 delegates (NMBM Officials and councillors) ably led by Executive Mayor Zanoxolo Wayile. After having visited most of the wards in the Govern Mbeki Cluster yesterday, including the townships of New Brighton, KwaZakhele, Silver Town and Chris Hani, the team took to the streets of Uitenhage today, one of the oldest townships in Nelson Mandela Bay. Uitenhage is the Zola Nqini … [Read more...] about Officials and Councillors That Are Not Doing Their Jobs
