The EP Kings have announced a 38 man squad today as preparations step up a gear for the EP Kings 2015 Vodacom Cup campaign. Notable new additions among the squad are Cornell Hess and Dylan Frylinck, who have both secured contracts for the Vodacom Cup season following trials earlier this month, as well as Vukile Sofisa and Sphu Msuthwana who move up from last year's U21 squad and CJ Velleman, who captained the U19 squad last year. Also named in the squad are new signings Tazz Fuzani, Jan … [Read more...] about The EP Kings Vodacom Cup squad

And in better news the EP Kings keep hopes alive

21 April 2013 By Alan Straton

With a week of league action left, no team will go into the Vodacom Cup playoffs unbeaten after the Sharks XV and the Steval Pumas' impressive winning runs came to an end over the weekend. The Sharks lost to the EP Kings and The Lions beat the Pumas. The EP Kings reversed a 12-point half-time deficit to beat the Sharks XV by 27-23 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday afternoon, all but assuring the team from Port Elizabeth a place in the quarter-finals. The hosts scored three … [Read more...] about And in better news the EP Kings keep hopes alive

2013 Vodacom Cup Fixtures

8 January 2013 By Alan Straton

Limpopo will play in the Vodacom Cup as a separate team for the first time when this 16-team competition kicks off on the second weekend of March. The region, which is a sub-union of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union, has been granted a place in the tournament in its own rights to help foster rugby in South Africa’s far north. They join the 14 provincial unions as well as the returning Pampas XV from Argentina in the tournament, which concludes in mid-May. The Polokwane-based Limpopo team will … [Read more...] about 2013 Vodacom Cup Fixtures

Cycle of Injuries Moves to EP Kings Props

17 April 2012 By Alan Straton

After a run of injuries on the centre pairings, the EP Kings now face the stark reality of 5 props being injured ahead of their Vodacom Cup game against the Sharks on Saturday 21 April. Kick off is at 14:45. Far from this being a negative one must look back into the very recent past where the concept of 'depth' for the EP Kings was measured in how far down into the brown smelly stuff they had sunk and NOT in the growing stable of competent players willing and able to wear the red and black … [Read more...] about Cycle of Injuries Moves to EP Kings Props

Kings Tie for 2nd Place after win over Cheetahs

1 April 2012 By Alan Straton

The Eastern Province Kings overcame a slow start to run out deserved 36-22 (halftime 23-10) winners in their Vodacom Cup match against the Free State Cheetahs played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Friday night. Victory for the Kings, their third in four outings, takes them to tie second on the South section log with the Sharks XV - both teams are 2 points behind log leaders Western Province on 18 points. For Free State, a third loss sees the men from Bloemfontein … [Read more...] about Kings Tie for 2nd Place after win over Cheetahs

Kings vs Pampas in Stellenbosch

8 March 2012 By Alan Straton

The Pampas XV from Argentina, the 2011 defending champions, will get the 2012 Vodacom Cup season, the 15th since its inception in 1998, underway on Friday at 15:10 when they host the EP Kings in Stellenbosch. The match will be televised (We like to believe that this was decided after MyPE indicated that we would not be doing a live blogcast). The Argentineans were unbeaten last year as they romped to the title in their first season of involvement and will be looking to build on that … [Read more...] about Kings vs Pampas in Stellenbosch

Vodacom Cup Season Over for the Kings

22 April 2011 By Alan Straton

The EP Kings will not have the opportunity to resolve the disputed points issue in time to participate in the Vodacom Cup Finals for 2011. The EP Kings played eight league games this year, logging a record of six wins and two losses, including six bonus point performances. Despite this record, the Kings will not be appearing in the quarter finals of the Vodacom Cup. The original complaint was made by the Mpumalanga Rugby Union, on the grounds that hooker Hannes Franklin and scrumhalf … [Read more...] about Vodacom Cup Season Over for the Kings
