Food & Trees for Africa and Cell C will be celebrating Mandela Day on 18 July by planting trees and vegetable gardens and renovating schools around the country. In the Eastern Cape, Cell C has selected Dumani Primary in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth. The school has already proved to be an environmental champion when it was selected as a finalist for the Eastern Cape in the national Eduplant competition. It is so pleasing to note that DF Malherbe school has replaced the trees that they removed on their grounds. Sadly, Theodore Herzel removed their trees and have not replaced them. Apart from that, the fencing that was damaged during the process of removing the trees is dilapidated and patched up in places with that dreadful orange stuff which we see so much of in PE these days.
