I recently experienced an outage on my Telkom landline. A very helpful lady phoned me from Telkom and informed me that Telkom would be crediting me for a portion of that outage. I politely thanked her and reminded myself to NOT hold my breath waiting for the credit. Lo and behold - the credit came through on this month's account. How cool and thank you Telkom. Telkom is planning to reduce its staff numbers by thousands, the telecoms company has told Fin24. On Tuesday afternoon, trade union Solidarity released a statement saying that Telkom plans to shed 7 800 jobs within two months. Telkom has set its increase on basic voice and data connectivity services at an overall 1.3%, below the Consumer Price Index, which is currently at 5.6% The telecommunications operator is, however, leaving broadband subscription fees unchanged. I recently switched to receiving my Telkom bill via e-mail. Tight arse that I am I never asked for a printed itemised bill as I was not willing to pay the additional charges - although that may have changed in the meantime.
