The Port Elizabeth Museum (Bayworld) has announced the birth of two new seal pups. The happy couple Lexi and Lucki had their pup on 23 November 2014, a male pup. Sammy and Lucki's pup was born on 7 December 2014, a female pup. Seals have delayed implantation, so their foetus only implants 3 months after fertilization. Rescued seal pups swim for their lives
During a very powerful gale in February 2013, many Cape fur seal pups of 6 to 8 weeks old were washed off Black rocks, one of the 5 islands of the Bird Island archipelago in Algoa Bay.
