The number of evacuations increased from 740 early last night to almost 2000 this morning due to flooding and more moderate showers expected today. On Thursday the Disaster Management Centre handed out 1530 blankets, 704 mattresses and 15 bags of soup to more than 2000 people affected. The Groendal dam is currently overflowing at 118% and as a result the levels of the Swartkops River are still rising.
