The lack of progress in the probes of the brutal Echo Foundation old age home murders of John Berrington and Hazel Huggins has prompted the organisation to take matters into its own hands. The foundation has recruited national private investigations firm Sleuth and is offering R100,000 for information which can lead to the arrest and prosecution of the murder suspects - or R50,000 per case. The Wilderness Foundation expresses its ongoing concern at the recent poaching of 4 white rhino in the Eastern Cape at the Lombardini Game Reserve over the past three weeks. In these poaching incidents, a male as well as a female and her young calf were butchered. The state of the 4th poached rhino is unknown at present. The Wilderness Foundation has expressed its ongoing concern at the recent poaching of 2 rhino in the Eastern Cape. The poaching took place at Mount Camdeboo Private Game Reserve yesterday. In this poaching incident, a mother and her 2 ½ year old sub-adult calf were butchered, and the mother's full term (unborn) calf also died. Addo offers R10 000 reward for info on Jackal poisoning

Addo Elephant National Park is offering a reward of R10 000 for information which may lead to the successful prosecution of the person/s responsible for the poisoning of 36 jackals and two crows in the Park. Earlier this week a toxicology report by the ARC-Onderstepoort Veterinary Institute outside Pretoria confirmed that the animals succumbed to the poisonous carbamate pesticide "methomyl".
