The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) has cut the repo rate by 25 basis points. “The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has decided to cut the repo rate by 25 basis points, taking it to 3.50% per annum, with effect from 24 July 2020. Central bank cuts repo rate by 100 basis points In line with market expectation, the Reserve Bank has cut the repo rate by 100 basis points to 5.25% per annum, Governor Lesetja Kganyago announced on Thursday. “The MPC decided to cut the repo rate by 100 basis points. Reserve Bank Governor Lesetja Kganyago has announced that the repo rate will remain unchanged for the time being, despite some economists banking on a rate cut. “The MPC [Monetary Policy Committee] decided to keep the repurchase rate unchanged at 6.5% per annum. Consumers will breathe a sigh of relief after the South African Reserve Bank’s (SARB) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decided to keep the repo rate unchanged at 6.5%. The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has unanimously decided to keep the repurchase rate unchanged at 6.5% per annum. Consumers are encouraged to exercise restraint on excessive spending despite the SARB’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged. The Reserve Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) on Thursday reduced the repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.75%. The repo rate will remain unchanged at 7%, Reserve Bank Governor Lesetja Kganyago said on Tuesday. “The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has unanimously decided to keep the repurchase rate unchanged at 7% per annum,” said the Governor.
