Producer inflation rises to 4.2%

Prices at the factory gate shot up in October to 4.2%, mostly because of higher costs for food, alcohol and tobacco products. Statistics SA said on Thursday that October's annual percentage change in the producer price index (PPI) was 4.2%, up from 3.6% in September. From September 2015 to October 2015 the PPI for final manufactured goods increased by 0.9%. PPI at 5.8% in January

South Africa's new headline producer Price Inflation was at 5.8% in January, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) said on Tuesday. "The annual percentage change in the Producer Price Index (PPI) for final manufactured goods was 5.8% in January 2013. PPI slows to 5.4% in July

The Producer Price Index (PPI) slowed to 5.4% in July from 6.6% in June, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) said on Thursday. Stats SA said the lower PPI - which is the price of goods leaving factories and mines - could be attributed to decreases in the electricity price that decreased from 19.6% in June to 14.5% in July; while mining and quarrying decreased from 6.9% in June to 3.8% in July. PPI unchanged at 6.6%

The Producer Price Index remained unchanged at 6.6% in May, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) said on Thursday. In April, the PPI - or price of goods leaving factories and mines - was at 6.6%. "From April 2012 to May 2012, the PPI for domestic output increased by 0.5%," said Stats SA. This was due to the increase in electricity prices, mining and quarrying among others while prices of agricultural goods fell by 0.1% over the month. April PPI falls to 6.6%

The Producer Price Index (PPI) eased to 6.6% in April, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) said on Thursday. In March PPI, which is the price of goods leaving factories and mines, eased to 7.2%. Market consensus was that it would come in at 6.9%. Over the month, the PPI increased by 0.3%. The Producer Price Index (PPI) slowed to 9.8% year-on-year in December, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) said on Thursday. "This rate is 0.3 of a percentage point lower than the corresponding annual rate of 10.1% in November 2011," said Stats SA. The Producer Price Index (PPI) slowed to 10.1% in November, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) said on Thursday. Analysts had expected it to come in at 10.6% year-on-year. The Producer Price Index (PPI) increased by 9.6% in August, according to Statistics South Africa (Stats SA). "This rate is 0.7 of a percentage point higher than the corresponding annual rate of +8.9% in July 2011," said Stats SA on Thursday. The market had expected it to increase to 9% in August. The Producer Price Index (PPI) in June rose to 7.4 percent, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) said on Thursday. "This rate is 0.5 of a percentage point higher than the corresponding annual rate of 6.9 percent in May 2011," said Stats SA. The Producer Price Index (PPI) in March rose to 7.3 percent in line with market expectation. "The annual percentage change in the PPI was 7.3 percent in March 2011. The Producer Price Index (PPI) in February increased more than expected in February, rising to 6.7 percent. Statistics South Africa said on Thursday that PPI, which is the prices of goods leaving factories and mines, rose to 6.7 percent from 5.5 percent in January. The Producer Price Index (PPI) eased to 5.5 percent in January, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) said on Thursday. Producer inflation eased to 5.5 percent from 5.8 percent in December, a figure which Nedbank economists said was slightly above market expectations.
