At 07h00, Wednesday, 31st October, NSRI and MRCC (Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre) were alerted by the owners of the yacht Ariel reporting the yacht and her 6 crew overdue from making contact and last contact had been made with the yacht on Monday, 29th October, at 17h30. Sarah Smith, NSRI St Francis Bay station commander, said: At 05h15, Wednesday, 10th January, NSRI St Francis Bay duty crew were activated by the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) following reports to NSRI Port Elizabeth of a man suspected to be overboard the fishing vessel Maryke. Beached Humpback Whale Euthanised
Ian Gray, NSRI Port Elizabeth station commander, said: At 11h30, 28 October 2017, NSRI Port Elizabeth duty crew were activated to investigate a whale beached. We had received a call from member of public reporting a beached Humpback Whale Calf at Hogan Park, approximately 4km along the beach to the east of the Port of Ngqura.
