Returning home from the official launch of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro Police force on Friday 13 May 2016 I remarked to the Longhair that our Executive Mayor Danny Jordaan had committed suicide at the post event press conference. Visibly shocked the Longhair asked for clarity as she thought it had been in the literal sense and not as I had meant - 'political suicide'. The envisaged showcase launch of the Bay's Metro Police force was marred by disgruntled Traffic Officials who claimed that … [Read more...] about The day that Danny committed suicide

Metro Police launch exposed as another Danny Jordaan broken promise and lie
Dear MyPE The disruption and abandonment of today's Metro Police Launch, has exposed the glitzy media event as nothing more than a sham, a lie and a broken promise. Today SAWMU regional secretary Mqondisi Nodongwe confirmed to the DA what we have been suspecting for some time: ANC Mayor Danny Jordaan's metro police launch was faked by putting ordinary Municipal staff in Metro Police uniforms, without any training or recruitment. Mqondisi_Nodongwe from Alan Straton on … [Read more...] about Metro Police launch exposed as another Danny Jordaan broken promise and lie

An elated Executive Mayor Dr Danny Jordaan told guests that: "We have been waiting for this day to see our men and women in blue. This weeks Launch of Metro Police Force: We are NOT a suspicious bunch
Months before the 2010 Soccer World Cup, Nelson Mandela Bay officials entrusted a project team with establishing a plan to implement a Metro Police service in Nelson Mandela Bay. The Metro Police Service is scheduled for an official launch tomorrow, Friday 13 May 2016. As the launch of this service has been dogged by regime changes, political infighting and numerous Metro Police Chiefs employed at huge cost we at MyPE are a bit concerned at the choice of date for the launch. Let us not … [Read more...] about This weeks Launch of Metro Police Force: We are NOT a suspicious bunch
25-Day Countdown to Metro Police Launch
Plans are afoot to launch the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro Police and the City has set aside almost R4 million for the implementation and an additional R224 million has already been budgeted for the 2015/2016 financial year. The Metro Police Steering Committee led by the Safety and Security Acting Executive Director: Shadrack Sibiya is hard at work in order to ensure that all the legislative requirements are met which include a 24 hour service, civilian oversight (in terms of section 64 J of the … [Read more...] about 25-Day Countdown to Metro Police Launch
NMB Metro Police Force by 1 April 2016
"You cannot fly a plane without a pilot!" In council on Wednesday 9 March Mayor Danny Jordaan announced that the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro police force would be operational on 1 April 2016. Predictably this sparked rage by members of the council who berated the metro for their recent 'rent-a-cop' programme. Jordaan said the delay has been as a result of a reshuffle within the unit, which saw two people stepping down and clarifying by saying the need to appoint the head of the metro … [Read more...] about NMB Metro Police Force by 1 April 2016
2013 NMB Metro Police plan delayed
The following is an extract from a speech, where a plan to launch a metro police force in NMB was tabled, delivered by DA Mayoral Candidate for NMB, Athol Trollip, outside the Gelvandale home of 2 year old, Caydene Ruiters, who was shot and killed in gang crossfire late last year. The DA has in its possession an existing and already adopted and gazetted plan to establish a Metro Police Service in Nelson Mandela Bay. This plan was declared a "special project of the executive mayor" on the … [Read more...] about 2013 NMB Metro Police plan delayed
Organised business can no longer condone throwing good money after bad
The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber president, Mr Mandla Madwara, and CEO, Mr Kevin Hustler, today issued an open call for the urgent reconsideration of the proposed one percent hike that would see rate payers in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro pay towards the costs of a Metro police force. This is an urgent call for the City to apply its mind to the alternatives that organised business believes exist within the budgeting process of the forthcoming financial year. As the Nelson Mandela … [Read more...] about Organised business can no longer condone throwing good money after bad
Metro Cops an Empty and Unfunded Promise
The DA fully supports the intention of the Council to establish a Metro Police unit in Nelson Mandela Bay and we have been driving this issue for many years. The reality is that there is no budget allocated in the 2013/2014 budget and it is unlikely that the Mayor will be able to source the required funding this year. The Safety and Security Directorate is in a complete shambles and rectifying the current problems should be priority number one. Improving by law enforcement, issuing of traffic … [Read more...] about Metro Cops an Empty and Unfunded Promise
