Kusile power station's Unit 1 has been connected to the national grid for the first time this year, power utility Eskom has said. Connected to grid on Monday, the unit adds an extra 800MW to further stabilise the power system to support South Africa's economic growth and the rollout of the electrification programme. Eskom’s Kusile Power Plant Loan Approved
The board of directors of the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) voted on 26 May to approve an $805.6 million direct loan to South Africa's state-owned electric power utility, Eskom, Limited. This brings Ex-Im Bank's current fiscal year financing in sub-Saharan Africa to nearly $1.5 billion, nearly double the previous one year record of $812 million set during the fiscal year ending last September 30th.
